I am fascinated to understand how to create the best environment for GenZ to flourish. The Walton Family Foundation (WFF) (owners of the ubiquitous Walmart) established a partnership with Gallup to survey and report on the lives of Generation Z i.e. (young adults born between 1997 and 2012.) I find these reports fascinating.

‘What has the Gen Z Report told me so far?

·      They do not feel engaged in their jobs. They are unsure how to articulate or pursue their purpose in life.

·      Engagement is critical to improving Gen Z’s wellbeing and future outlook; however, nearly every measure of engagement declined from 2023 to 2024.

In Gen Z’s ideal lives, living comfortably and having close relationships with friends and family are significantly more important than becoming wealthy, buying a house or landing a high-status work position.

What conclusions can we draw that are important for how you manage and engage these important team members?

1.        Ensure that they are engaged and feel a sense of belonging.

2.        That they understand in their role and how it contributes to wider business objectives

3.        Help them to clearly understand how they fit into the wider business and how the business supports the wider Global community

4.        Provide them with opportunities to flourish and grow.

So your business should have a great induction program and training for Line Managers to make their GenZ team members are being developed and feel included at both team and company level.

Another great way to support them is to provide them with opportunities to develop new skills. As part of their induction to have a structured functional skills development program? Something to think about? Need help? Paul@pwacapability.com;
